Terms and Conditions

​

All participation will be represented by contingents or individual from various Branch Campus/ Faculty/ Centre/ Department etc.

 

Participation is open to all Staff and Students under the following groups:

  1. INVENTOR Staff (Teachers/ Lecturers/ Industry/ Public)

  2. YOUNG INVENTOR Student (Institutions/ Matriculations/ Politechnics/ Colleges)

  3. JUNIOR INVENTOR Schools Student (Local and International Secondary schools)

 

Each participation entry will comprise of 1 (one) Project Leader and a maximum of 4 (four) members. The Project Leader must be either a Staff or Student of that respective institution.

 

Adding of project members or change of name is not allowed after closing date.

 

Any change of project title/category is not allowed after the closing date.

 

Staff on study leave should register under the STUDENT category.

 

The invention/innovation/design must be an outcome of a PhD, Masters, Undergraduate Final Year Project or research work. Collaborative research projects with industry partners are highly encouraged.

 

Each individual is allowed to participate in more than one entry.

 

All entries are not permitted to withdraw and the registration fee is not refundable.

 

All expenses related to the completion of the products for this competition are to be borne by the participants.

 

Participants must ensure their booth is to be attended throughout the exhibition period and during the judging period.

 

Participation that violate the terms and conditions of this competition will be disqualified.

 

All matters related to legislation such as copyright or any adherence to the law is the responsibility of the participants.

 

It is compulsory for all participants to wear formal attire during the event.

 

Participants may also prepare brochures, pictures, certificates, etc.

All evidence such as patent application letter, papers, journals, etc. are to be presented to the judges.

 

The jury's decision is final.

 

 

 

 

Registration


On-line registration has to be made via this website.

 

Name of details participant must be correctly registered by Project Leader as it will appear automatically on of certification.

 

The organizer reserves the right to reject any application.

 

 

 

Event Information

 

Each participant will be provided a limited exhibition space to display. An internet facility will be provided.

 

Participants are advised to be present at respective booths throughout the event.

 

It is compulsory to prepare a poster presentation. See details on poster preparation guidelines.

 

The product poster must be displayed at all times during the exhibition

 

Participants are also encouraged to display a model, prototype, sample or lap-top presentation related to the Invention /Innovation/Design. This will help the panel of judges to understand the research project better. Participants may also prepare brochures, pictures, certificates, etc.

 

All evidence such as patent application letter, papers, journals, etc. are to be presented to the judges.

 

Should there be any industrial inquiry or industrial representative visiting any booths, participants are to request them to fill the industrial feedback form.

 

It is compulsory for all participants to wear formal attire during the event.

 

 

 

 

Exhibition

 

Each booth space is approximately 4ft wide

 

Provisions by the organisers include:

  1. Table 1 unit

  2. Chair 1 unit

  3. Display board 1 unit

  4. Plug point (Extension wire at your own cost)

 

Participants are allowed to bring any other provisions deemed necessary for the competition but they should be placed within their booth space.

 

Participants are responsible for the safety of their own stuff.

 

Participants may include other materials such as brochures, flyers, previous awards, certificates, letters of accreditation, product sales receipts, published research articles, pictures, slides etc.

Judging Criteria

 

A panel of judges will be appointed to evaluate the projects for the competition.

 

Judging is based on the products’ originality, creativity, usability and practicality, potential for commercialization/marketability, social responsibility, overall design and the presentation quality.

 

Participants will be given 10 minutes to present their products. The presentation should be brief, clear and concise.

 

The jury's decision is final and no disputes or appeals will be entertained.
